Is Secular Sacred?

The heart of SurgeConference each year will still be the same: we are on about getting Christians to grow in their understanding of how God has uniquely made each one of us for His Service. This year we will be building on those foundations grounded in the first year by dealing with this very important issue that ties in deeply with our service: Is there actually a divide between the secular and the sacred?? How can the skills and abilities we develop in the secular world be used for the kingdom? In this way we will be divulging how, and when, we bring our secular world into our ‘kingdom thinking’, while conversely bringing the kingdom into our secular world! We will be using a wide variety of teaching methods including talks, electives, smaller group discussions, one-to-one chats, and personal reflection time as we wrestle hard with this issue over the weekend and take what we learn back to our secular (or sacred??) lives.

So what about the first timers?

On the Saturday you will be breaking off for a session into a separate strand just for first timers where Steve Chong will run you through the foundations of the gifts triangle so you can develop a deeper understanding of how God has created you to best serve others and the kingdom for His glory.
